Phosphorescence is a physical phenomenon, which occurs when certain substances are exposed to sunlight, such substances does not immediately re-emit the absorbed radiation. The emitted radiation is releases at a slower rate which can last for many hours after after the initial exposure to sunlight. Examples of phosphorescent materials are toys, stickers, paints and clock dials that glow in the dark.
