The counterculture movement from the 60s established a society of young people who supported equal rights and supported integration of all minorities in all aspects of life. In addition, the movement also gave way to many underground cultures that later became mainstream while also influencing numerous artists. The Beatniks and The hippies became extremely influential in all spheres of life.
