You have to see that no of Atoms are equal on both sides or not.

FeS + O2 - Fe,02 + SO2

Ferrous is balanced on both sides and also sulphur but oxygen is not balanced .

Ino left side oxygen is 2 while on right it's 4.

So, we have to balanced Oxygen.

FeS + 2O2 - Fe,02 + SO2

Now see it's balanced (we insert 2 on left side to balance the oxygen)
