Answer:

It can weaken a country's economy, for two reasons: a) many workers will stop doing their job to join the protest, and b) many shops will be looted and vandalized. Security will also go down, as criminals will often use the social chaos to reak more havoc. Many public events will be cancelled too. Infrastructure will also get wrecked, like traffic lights, shops, ATMs and cars too.
