explanation: because the angles in a triangle add up to 180° and since the latter or whatever goes straight up it is 90° and the other angle is 46° so 180=90+46+x.

Subtract 90 from both sides of the = and it becomes 90=46+x.

Then you subtract 46 on both sides and you get 44=x
