The narrator in the tell tale heart is insane for many reasons. First, throughout the entire story he is paranoid and nervous. He is also trying to prove that he is sane, but his actions show that he is clearly the opposite of sane. He is insane. He killed a man for the strange reason of not liking his eye. That is insanity.
