An easy was to remember the main causes of WW1 is to remember the acronym, M.A.I.N. This stands for Militarism, Alliances, Imperialism, Nationalism. The actual event that supposedly triggered WW1 is the Archduke Ferdinand by the Turkish terrorist group, The Black Hand.
