- -3/4 + 14/4

2. Add the two fractions.

- -3/4 + 14/4 = 11/4

- Because 3/4 is negative, you can act like we are subtracting with positive numbers (14/4 -3/4.)

3. Simplify

- 11/4 = 2 3/4
