I would look into Ancient Greece and Hippocrates who is thought of as the father of medicine (even though he didn’t know anything really) and perhaps modern medicine. That way you can create parallels based on what they knew then and know now. The Arabic and Indian people also knew a lot more about medicine at the time than the Greeks did so they might be more interesting to look into
