The definition is the following:

[tex] (f+g)(x) = f(x)+g(x) [/tex]

So, we simply have to sum the expressions:

[tex] f(x)+g(x) = \dfrac{x}{2}-3 + 3x^2+x-6 = 3x^2 +\dfrac{3x}{2}-9 [/tex]
