Churchill wanted to spread an iron curtain over eastern Europe. During World War II in 1945, iron curtain was created as a boundary that divided the Europe into two separate areas. This symbolized the effort to block the Soviet Union and its satellite states from an open contact with other countries especially in the west and non-Soviet-controlled areas.
