The US has been called "The land of opportunity" because of its many rich natural resources and a government that promises freedoms for individuals hoping to make a better life for themselves. The interesting thing is that so many of us take these freedoms for granted. Immigrants are the ones who have made our country what it is today. Unless a US resident is a Native American Indian, at some point their family immigrated too.
