It became portions of the United States and Canada.

Over time, France either lost portions of New France (to the British in the 7-Years War) or sold portions to the United States (Louisiana Purchase).

The end result is that the French lost what was once a massive piece of land that stretched from Cape Breton, through the Great Lakes, and down to Louisiana.
