Remember that when you subtract a negative number, you are really just adding the number. This is represented as:

[tex]a - (- b) = a + b[/tex]


Thus, we can simplify

[tex](-27) - (-27)[/tex],

as

[tex]-27 + 27[/tex]


Our answer is -27 + 27.
