A stupa is a type of Buddhist monument that houses sacred relics (of Buddha or other saintly persons and even sacred concepts) and serves as a place of meditation. It features a hemispherical form, although in some countries it has adopted other forms (bell, or with multiple stories). Worshipers walk around the building in a clockwise direction.
