why isn't amazon a monopoly

Because if Amazon was a monopoly then it would become too powerful and if it is  too powerful then it would interfere with the national government , Amazon then would have the power to do what ever they like to people and charge how much they would like for a product ,just like Rockefeller's Standard Oil Company .
