2x + 2 = 2x + 8
-2x        -2x 

2 = 8 is not equal

what you want to do is get x by itself:
2x+2=2x+8      (subtract 2 on both sides)
     
2x=2x+6           (subtract the 2x that's on the right side)
 
0=6                      
 the +2x and the -2x cancel out making a zero. that leaves you with 0=6, 0 doesn't = 6 so there is no answer/ No Solution.
