Peritrichous refers to the bacteria having flagella all over the surface of the bacteria. The monotrichous bacteria have only one flagella. The phototaxis refers to the movement of the bacteria towards and away from the light. The movement of bacteria towards or away from a chemical stimulus is referred as chemotaxis.
