It means the transformation preserves lengths and angles, as though the figure being transformed were made of something rigid, something that keeps its shape.
If it is a rigid motion the object transformed does not change it’s shape or dimensions. (It just changed the position-unlike at the dilation where the size gets bigger or smaller)
