To find the area of a trapezoid, add the 2 bases together, divide that by 2, then multiply that by the height:

9 +5 = 14, 14/2 = 7, 7 *4 = 28

The area is 28 square cm.

area = 28 cm²

the area of a trapezoid = [tex]\frac{h}{2}[/tex] ( a + b )

where h is the height and a, b the bases

here h = 4, a = 9 and b = 5

area = [tex]\frac{4}{2}[/tex] ( 9 + 5 ) = 2( 14 ) = 28 cm²
