if John has £46 and Joshua has £38 and John gives some of his money to Joshua so that they have the same amount if money .

they both have $42.

work:

add their money, 38 + 46

divide the total by two 84/2

you get 42

so, for them to have the same amount of money they'd hAve to each have $42.
