It is not true. There are other ways like Chicago style or APA style. Double check with your teacher on what style they want you to use.
yes, it is definitely true MLA format only means that the font is times new roman and size 12 it is usually used in essays Although I am not sure what they are called there are more than 1 sizes and fonts which means that there are more.
