Is this exactly what the question says? It is a little confusing as to what it is asking.
He should have 47 1/2 paid hours because he would be paid for all hours worked.
He would have 40 regular hours and 7 1/2 overtime hours. The regular hours would be paid at his hourly wage rate. The 7 1/2 overtime hours would be paid at time and a half of the regular hourly wage rate.
