The Senate refused to approve the proposed Arms Trade Treaty which was to ease the supply of military equipment between the United States, Britain, and Australia.
The Senate pointed out that the US administration had failed to answer critical questions concerning how the treaties would be implemented. Concerns raised ranged from the United Nation's hostility to private ownership of arms.
