M(2, –7) and N(10, 9)

distance MN as vector:
(10-2,9-(-7))=(8,16)

distance=√(8²+16²)=√(320)=17.9

so the distance is 17.9 and you are probably supposed to answer with the squared distance=320, based on the answer options
